When you have a superior car that no one can beat, poles and race wins are almost guaranteed. Despite an earlier spin, off the pace yesterday, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton again delivered when it mattered to record a new track record of 1m 24.303s, three tenths ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas to win the pole position for the British GP at Silverstone. Hamilton is the first driver to take seven poles at his home race.
